Wardensville is a town in Hardy County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 271 at the 2010 census. Originally named Trout Run, Wardensville was chartered in Virginia in 1832 and incorporated in West Virginia in 1879. The present name is after Fort Warden, which once stood here. In the 1820 United States Census, the population center of the United States was recorded as being about 3 miles northeast of the town. ==Geography==
Wardensville is located at (39.075573, -78.594534). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which, is land and is water.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.census.gov/geo/www/gazetteer/files/Gaz_places_national.txt )〕 A whitewater stretch of the Lost River (West Virginia) flows just above the town from the southwest and once it reaches Wardensville is renamed the Cacapon River. The stream continues to flow northeasterly towards its eventual destination at the Potomac River.
